An Aberdeen charity is celebrating the success of its pop up charity shop.

Future Choices was inundated with donations for its week-long stint at the Charity Shop on George Street, and even had to hold back items from the shop as they were of such high value.

A total of £2,000 was raised for the charity, which works to improve the lives of those with disabilities.

Chairman David Forbes said: “It was an experience-and-a-half and it was a fantastic way to celebrate our 11th anniversary.

“We had a couple of our members in the pop-up shop. We had a lady in her wheelchair and she was very happy to be able to be there and have a chat with the customers. It added a really nice touch.

“Customers wanted to invest time in us and learn about what we do.”

The money raised from the shop will go towards maintaining the buses allow disabled members to get out, and form the “heart of the charity.”

A nine-carot “white” gold and diamond engagement ring and a Michael Kors bag are now up for sale on the charity’s Facebook page, as it was decided they were too valuable to sell in the shop.

They also have another 13 items that will be put up for sale in the upcoming weeks.

Mr Forbes urged other charities to sign up for a week in the shop.

“I wouldn’t have said that before we did the pop-up, but the donations and support you receive from the public is amazing.”
