A north-east beauty queen who returned to competing this year after caring for her bullied son has reached the final of Ms Great Britain.

Nursery teacher and part-time model Sherylanne Green, from Aberdeen, took a two-year hiatus from pageants to look after seven-year-old Julian who was being tormented  at school.

The former Ellon Academy pupil found out at the weekend that she has been chosen to take part at the final of Ms Great Britain in Leicester in February.

The 29-year-old, who is originally from Tarves, only returned to competing at pageants in July.

A new category at the Miss Great Britain competition, Ms Great Britain features contestants who are either married, have children, or are over 28.

“It’s kind of surreal taking part, really,” she said.

“I always wanted to enter Miss Great Britain but never felt good enough, and then I was too old for it.

“So when I saw they had added a Ms category, I just felt like it was my time.

“Though I applied, I didn’t really expect to get through because the standards for this pageant have always been really high.

“When I got the email saying I was chosen as a finalist I just couldn’t believe it.

“It’s definitely going to be the biggest pageant I have ever done.”
