An SNP candidate who is contesting the seat for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine was knocking on doors yesterday, accompanied by Deputy First Minister John Swinney.
Fergus Mutch took to the campaign trail in the north-east by canvassing views from people in the community.
He was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skill and Deputy First Minister John Swinney.
The seat is currently held by Conservative candidate Andrew Bowie, who is also standing for re-election.
Mr Swinney said: “In all of the Conservative held seats in Scotland, the SNP are the challengers.
“Labour and the Liberal Democrats are nowhere in those contests.
“So, if people in Scotland want to be protected from a Boris Johnson government, the way to do that is to make sure the Tories don’t win seats in Scotland.
“That can be achieved by voting SNP in constituencies like West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, where we are the strong and identifiable challengers to the Tories.”
Mr Mutch said the SNP are in a “really good place right now” and other parties “do not have the manpower” to get out to campaign.
He added: “We have a fantastic team of activists. We have been out every single day and have had multiple sessions – knocking on people’s doors.
“The Tories, Lib Dems and any other party just do not have the manpower to actually get around the doors and talk to people on their doorsteps to make a difference.
“That’s where the SNP really shines and what will make a crucial difference this election.”
