North and north-east rail passengers commuting to and from Edinburgh will face major travel disruptions this weekend.
Network Rail has announced it will carry out vital engineering work near Haymarket until tomorrow morning.
This means services on several routes to and from Edinburgh will start and terminate before reaching the capital city.
For Aberdeen and Inverness travellers, trains will start and terminate at Haymarket.
A very limited replacement bus service will run between Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley.
The first trains will include a 5.34am and 5.48am service from Haymarket to Aberdeen and the 8.31am service from Edinburgh to Aberdeen will start at Inverkeithing at 9am.
As for Inverness and Haymarket commuters, the first service will leave Haymarket for Inverness at 8.34am and 4.56am from Inverness to Haymarket.
The 6.55am departure from Perth terminates at Inverkeithing.
Tomorrow, services on several routes to and from the Edinburgh area will operate on a reduced timetable with services starting and terminating before they reach Edinburgh until around 10am.
Trains will run as normal, except for the 9.17am Edinburgh to Aberdeen, which will start at Dalgety Bay at 9.48am.
And the 9.29am Edinburgh to Inverness service will start at Perth at 10.53am.
A statement on the ScotRail website said: “If you’re planning to travel to the Edinburgh area on these dates, please consider making alternative arrangements, particularly on December 28.”
It has been scheduled for the holiday period to minimise disruption, as there were no ScotRail services into Edinburgh on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
