Hundreds of party-goers gathered in Aberdeen to bring in 2020 in style.

Some revellers even dressed up to mark the start of the roaring 20s – donning flapper girls dresses and Peaky Blinder style suits.

The annual street party at Schoolhill included three musical performances, with the renowned One Night of Queen tribute act headlining.

Gary Mullen and The Works had the crowd singing along, with Radio Ga Ga proving a popular choice and creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Queen’s 1985 Live Aid performance as the audience clapped along.

Zac Robinson, who attended the show with his friends and fiance, said: “It’s been brilliant.

“It’s so good to see the community come together and enjoy things – there are even children in their buggies.

“The Queen tribute band is great and so were the bands were on before.”

Phillipe Matos and his parents – who travelled all the way from Portugal to see in 2020 with their son – were also enjoying themselves.

“I work here and my mum and dad have came over from Portugal to spend new year with me,” Mr Matos said.

“The street party was very good and my mum and dad really enjoyed it.”

AJ Wathern and Zita Zadrapova said they had been enjoying the atmosphere, having also popped into the Christmas Village which was open until 2am.

The pair were dressed up as flapper girls to mark the occasion, while Mrs Wathern’s husband also embraced the roaring 20s.

Mrs Wathern said: “My husband is suited and booted, Peaky Blinders style. We’ve never gone to celebrate new year anywhere else.”

Ms Zadrapova added: “We came up through the village and it was a pretty good atmosphere.”

As midnight approached, Byron Stirton from Grampian District Pipes and Drums played the bagpipes before a spectacular fireworks display brought in 2020 with a bang.
