A photographer couldn’t believe his luck when three playful otters he is used to capturing only “as a blur” stopped and posed for pictures on an Aberdeen riverbank.
Neil Tosh, 49, visits the same spot along the River Don at the Brig O’ Balgownie most weekends and was surprised by the “rare occurrence”.
The reservoir engineer is a keen photographer and has been taking photos of wildlife, concerts, gigs and landscapes for the past 20 years.
He has spotted the otters at the spot several times over recent years, but has never before been able to capture such clear images of them.
Mr Tosh said: “They came out of the water, stood at the rock and looked at me. I left there laughing away to myself. I couldn’t quite believe my luck.
“They’ve been there for a few years now, so there’s a high chance you will see them, but it’s a rare occurrence that they come up close and I got a good photo of them.
“Usually it’s a streak or a blur at the river. It’s hard to spot them.”
