Traffic lights could be installed at an Aberdeen junction which has been blighted by accidents since it opened a year ago.
Plans have been submitted to add signals to the Kingswells south roundabout, which links the city bypass with the A944 road west into Aberdeenshire.
It was made available to motorists last February, but many have raised concerns that drivers are entering it too fast – leading to frequent bumps between vehicles.
The proposals will be considered by councillors in March.
Council transport spokeswoman, Sandra Macdonald, said: “Officers have been working with Transport Scotland and police to identify measures for the roundabout to improve safety.
“The proposal to install traffic lights has been agreed in principal with Transport Scotland.”
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “We expect the installation of traffic signals will improve operation of this junction, and therefore enhance the safety of road users by providing better opportunities to exit the trunk road safely.”
