A teenager who stole a car and hot-wired a motorbike was found hiding under his grandmother’s bed by police.
Ellis Leisk broke into a house in Bridge of Don early on April 22 and stole the occupant’s car keys and wallet.
The 19-year-old used them to drive off in their BMW but later dumped it to steal a motorbike, which he then crashed into a roadside barrier in Garthdee.
Police found both vehicles parked “just metres” away from each other, and discovered Leisk’s DNA on the bike’s exposed wires.
He admitted the thefts at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Sheriff Graeme Napier said: “You managed to hot-wire this bike, so you’re obviously quite professional at it and should expect a custodial sentence.”
All of the stolen items, apart from £20 which was inside the wallet, were recovered.
Sentence on Leisk, of Montrose Drive, Aberdeen was deferred until next month to allow the preparation of social work reports.
