Four north-east charities have shared thousands of pounds donated to keep them afloat and able to help the vulnerable during the coronavirus crisis.
Aberdeen-based EV Private Equity has donated £500 each to Aber Necessities, Aberdeen Cyrenians, The New Arc and Mental Health Aberdeen.
The donation will help three Aber Necessities volunteers buy supplies of nappies, formula, toiletries and food for families struggling financially during lockdown.
Mental Health Aberdeen will use the money to fund work to promote mental wellbeing for those struggling with self-isolation.
The Cyrenians too will use the money directly to aid those in Covid-19 self-isolation: including those in crisis who are homeless; suffering violence, abuse and exploitation; or dealing with addiction or mental illness.
Donations to its AC2U scheme will also provide food and other vital supplies.
Aberdeen Cyrenians fundraising manager Emma Bellu said: “We’re delivering cooked food for people without a cooker, food parcels to those in poverty and self-isolating, warm clothes and blankets for those unable to top up their heating credit, and baby items for vulnerable single parents.
“We couldn’t help those in need without the support of businesses like EV Private Equity, and we are particularly grateful for the contribution during this challenging and uncertain time.”
The funding is the first to come from EV Private Equity’s new charity initiative: promising to provide chosen charities with funding, volunteers and business skills.
Managing partner Helge Tveit said: “In addition to the funds, our team will also offer time and expertise to support the charities.
“We are glad that we are in a fortunate position to give back, and encourage others to do so where they can.”
