An Aberdeen man who had been missing since Sunday was found safe and well on an Angus hillside.

A wide-scale search was launched after concern for Robin Green, 74, was raised on Sunday.

Mr Green, from the West End area of Aberdeen, had last been seen walking along the B976 Banchory to Finzean road, at Mill of Strachan, at around 2.30pm.

Police conducted a major search operation for the missing pensioner, which included the use of specialist drone equipment.

Rural gamekeepers had been made aware of the search by the police and  at around 7am today, Millden Estate gamekeeper Sean McCubbin discovered Mr Green on a hill near Mount Battock, a Corbett which sits on the border between Angus and Grampian.

The 74-year-old was put on a quad bike and taken to the estate office, where he was able to warm-up and offered refreshments before being picked up safely by the police.

Mr McCubbin, of the Angus Glens Moorland Group, said: “Our group coordinator had made us aware of the police appeal and told us to look out for a missing person as we were going about our work.

“I saw the man lying down by the side of the hill road. He told me he was just having a wee nap.

“It was pretty overcast and a colder morning than recently, and he wasn’t wearing clothes for the weather, so it was good he was located.

“I just got on the radio and took him down to the estate office for a heat, a cup of tea and some cake, but he seemed fine.”

Police confirmed Mr Green had been found “safe and well”.
