A north-east charity shop is appealing for donations to replenish shelves ahead of its reopening this month.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland was left with no choice but to close its 45 shops across the nation due to the pandemic.

The closures resulted in a loss of £500,000 per month of income.

However, the charity recently opened up four shops in Edinburgh and is now preparing for more to come back to life.

Among those opening on July 31 will be the Cults store in Aberdeen.

Head of retail at Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, Carole Edmonds, yesterday assured customers that safety measures are in place for the move.

She said: “All stock will be quarantined for 72 to reduce the risk of contamination and stock will be carefully dated with sorting areas in store to allow a safe processing system.”

Other measures include the installation of cough screens and hand sanitising stations as well as limiting the number of people allowed in the shop.
