A group of golfers have helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for vulnerable people in the north-east.

VSA’s annual Tartan Pro-am tournament and fundraising dinner took place earlier this month, raising more than £46,000 for the social care charity.

Last night, the organisers said it was the most money the event had ever raised – and that they were delighted by everyone’s enthusiasm on the day.

Debbie Fotheringham, VSA’s events and fundraising coordinator, said 35 teams teed off at Deeside Golf Club and that everyone was in the mood to make it the most successful yet.

“We have been overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and generosity,” she said.

“We are so grateful to everyone who helped raise such an amazing amount.”

All money raised will help to fund VSA’s Linn Moor School, a place for children with complex needs where they are encouraged to reach their full potential.

The charity said the tournament would not have been possible without the help of main sponsors InterMoor and Russell Gibson Financial Management, and every other business and person who supported the event.

Russell Gibson’s director, Tom Hyslop, said: “VSA works extremely hard to provide the best care and support to a wide range of people in the north-east of Scotland to enable them to fulfil their potential.

“The incredible amount raised as a result of this well attended event will help the charity to continue its fantastic work.”

Dave McGinlay, InterMoor sales manager, said they were delighted to sponsor the event and also take part.

“Having visited Lin Moore recently we left appreciating what a fantastic job everyone is doing,” he said.

“I’m sure the amount raised will make a big difference to all.”
