A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries yesterday after being hit by a car.

A man was also struck by the vehicle after it mounted the kerb near Aberdeen beach at around 10am.

The woman suffered multiple fractures, but her condition is not life threatening.

The pair were walking on the pavement near the Saltoun Arms on Park Street, when a white Nissan Micra mounted the kerb and struck them. The man was uninjured.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 10am to a report of a car hitting two pedestrians on Park Street.

“The woman was taken to hospital with suspected fractures. Her condition is not life threatening. The man was walking about and talking, and was uninjured.”

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “One woman was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with multiple fractures. The man was assessed at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital.”

The road was closed between Constitution Street and the Beach Boulevard roundabout while emergency services attended the scene.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area, and the road was reopened just before 11am.

Meanwhile, a driver escaped injury after his car landed on its roof on an Aberdeenshire road.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm on the northbound lane of the B9031 Fraserburgh to Pennan road.

The male driver of the car was not injured in the crash. An ambulance spokesman confirmed that they were not required on scene.

A police spokeswoman said: “The driver was walking and talking and an ambulance was not needed.”

The crash led to delays for motorists, but the road was not closed. Police officers were at the scene to direct traffic around the accident.
