A former community centre caretaker who raped and abused vulnerable adults and children was jailed for more than 15 years today.
David Robertson told a social worker who prepared a background report on him: “I am a bit more of a monster than I thought I was.”
The 56-year-old preyed on a total of 16 victims over a period of decades.
A judge praised the courage and determination shown by his victims in bringing him to justice.
Robertson, formerly of Shapinsay Square, in Aberdeen, was earlier convicted of raping two women and a girl aged under seven years old.
His sex offending started in the city in 1974 when he was aged 17 and continued until 2011.
At the High Court in Edinburgh today, judge Lord Boyd jailed him for 15 years and four months.
He also ordered that Robertson be kept under supervision for a further 10 years after his release.
Lord Boyd said the 25 charges on which Robertson was found guilty involved 16 victims.
Robertson, who formerly worked at the Lord Provost Henry E Rae Community Centre in Aberdeen’s Manor Avenue accepted he had committed some of the offences when he gave evidence at his trial, but denied the rape charges.
