An Aberdeen graduate is celebrating after achieving her life-long ambition to gain a degree.
Linda Robson, 51, received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Social Studies from Robert Gordon University (RGU) yesterday.
She said: “I’m very proud to have graduated from RGU and it’s a great honour that I am the only one of my siblings to achieve a degree.
“I left school with basic O-levels and it has been a long road to complete my degree this year. It was a struggle studying full-time and also working but I got there through sheer determination.”
Ms Robson, who is a resettlement worker with Cyrenians, initially started the university’s social work course.
“I started the social work degree in 2007,” she said. “Then, just as I was going into fourth year in 2011, my brother passed away, and it wasn’t the right time to carry on.
“My family, friends and work colleagues have been a huge support and it’s been great to have their backing every step of the way until I completed the degree.”
Ms Robson celebrated her degree yesterday with her daughters and three young grandchildren.
