A group of young people from Aberdeen are taking part in a youth theatre exchange project with t California.
The eight participants, from Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA) Youth Theatre, are hosting a team of eight from the American Conservatory Theatre of San Francisco for two weeks.
This is the second time the exchange programme has run. It will be completed when an Aberdeen group visit America next year.
The actors will be taking part in workshops during the next fortnight, and will work on a new play called A Stone’s Throw, by playwright Jodie Marshall.
Judith Stephen, director of the Aberdeen group, said: “The project involves eight young people from Aberdeen and eight young people from San Francisco.
“They all auditioned to take part in the exchange from across Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire, and there’s a good mix of youth theatre members and people from outwith the company.”
The groups will each perform A Stone’s Throw in their hometowns, with the Aberdeen group holding a show at the Lemon Tree in November followed by another in San Francisco in February.
Mrs Stpehen added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the young people to work together and it offers the opportunity for a good cultural exchange.
“We’re finding that both groups of young people have quite different ways of working.”
