Two men have been jailed for dealing thousands of pounds worth of class A drugs in Aberdeen.

Ryan Duff, 30, and Jerome Wright, 27, appeared at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday and admitted being concerned in the supply of drugs during the run up to Christmas last year.

The pair were caught after a search warrant was issued for an address in Northfield’s Stewart Terrace.

Police found a “substantial” quantity of cocaine – estimated to be worth about £35,000 – along with cash amounting to tens of thousands of pounds.

As a result of the raid, which was carried out by Police Scotland’s Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, five people including Wright and Duff were arrested and appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on December 20.

They were all aged under 30 and were at the time charged with being concerned in the supply of drugs in the city.

Yesterday Duff, of Aberdeen, was sentenced to four years and two months for his part in the offence and Wright, of London, was handed a sentence of three years and 10 months.

Detective Inspector Doug Norrie welcomed the punishments handed down to the men last night.

He said: “Following an intelligence-led operation officers seized a significant amount of cocaine and the mixing agent benzocaine which would have been intended for the streets of Aberdeen.

“We welcome the sentences given today and hope it will deter others from becoming involved in the illegal supply of drugs to communities.

“We will continue to target those intent on supplying drugs and spreading misery in our communities.”

He said anyone with information or concerns about drug dealing in Aberdeen should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
