A group of Aberdeen graduates have launched a campaign to help emerging artists in Scotland.
Visual Artist Unit (VAU) is made up of eight members, seven of whom are graduates from Gray’s School of Art.
The group hopes to host a range of pop-up exhibitions, workshops, talks and events at venues across Scotland.
They are running a crowd funding campaign through Indiegogo to fund studio spaces for artists, and cover the costs of hosting events.
VAU co-director David McDiarmid said: “Visual Artist Unit is something we’ve been working towards as a group since graduating from art school in 2013 and we are excited to see things starting to come together.
“Seven of our management committee were in the same painting class at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, as well as one other member who is from Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee, and we all work well together.
“The Indiegogo campaign we are running will form the initial basis of funding for setting up studio spaces for groups of artists based in Glasgow as well as for organising an exciting series of pop-up exhibitions, workshops, talks and events across Scotland.
“In return we are offering a range of perks to suit all budgets, which we hope will make more people want to get involved and help out.”
Up-and-coming artists from across the country are invited to become members of the group to gain professional experience exhibiting their work.
VAU’s public engagement programme will invite member artists to host talks, classes, workshops and skill share sessions to make contemporary art more accessible.
