Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch paid a surprise visit to the north-east at the weekend.
The Australian businessman met campaigners from both the Yes and No camps when he stopped for lunch at Aberdeen’s Prince of Wales pub on Saturday.
The Scottish Sun owner reportedly wanted to visit Scotland to better understand the issues surrounding independence, and the mood of the country in the run up to Thursday’s vote.
Writing on his Twitter account, he said: “Tried 24 hours incognito Scottish visit (failed!). No politicians, just street and pub talks. Glasgow, Aberdeen, Rosehearty. Great people.”
After leaving the city he travelled on to Rosehearty, the fishing village where his great uncle was born.
