Studying, essays, exams – just some of the things you have to look forward to if you’ve started first year at Robert Gordon University (RGU) this week.
But in the meantime, why not get to know the university and the city by checking out what RGU is offering at this year’s Freshers Week, which kicked off on Saturday.
There’s loads of great events planned – from club nights to stand-up comedy – to help you get in the swing of things and meet new people.
To make sure you don’t miss out on any freshers fun, we’ve picked out the highlights this week has to offer.
1. Silent disco
A staple of any self-respecting student night is a headphone disco and RGU doesn’t disappoint.
Tonight (Monday), why not head along to the Woolmanhill Street Party, which kicks off at 8.30pm.
Let your tastes take over, whether it be house or hip-hop or chart or cheese, you decide what you want to hear as two of the city’s best student DJs battle it out for your ears.
Spaces are limited at this one, so get down early to avoid disappointment.
2. Put another shrimp on the barby
Tomorrow (Tuesday), you can re-capture the spirit of summer by popping along to a barbeque at the RGU Sports campus.
So come along and fill yourselves up from 12pm.
3. Need for speed
On Wednesday, Riley’s Pool & Snooker Club will be putting people through their paces with a speed-pool tournament.
The rules are simple – clear up all the balls from your table before the person next to you and you’re through to the next round.
If you fancy your chances, head along to the Bridge Place bar for 8pm.
4. Just for laughs
On Thursday, if you’re looking for a break from the madness, Campus is holding a live stand-up comedy night in the downstairs bar from 7.30pm.
Headlined by up-and-coming Scottish comedian Mark Nelson, the event will showcase some of the best new talent the country has to offer.
5. One more tune
If you’re looking for a musical interlude to the week, The Midnight Beast are playing the Garage on Friday night.
The parody band shot to fame after a series of videos on YouTube.
Come along if you’re in the mood for some ‘unique’ versions of well-known hits and some crazy on-stage antics.
6. Match of the Day
For all you fresher football fans out there, most pubs will be showing three live games on Saturday.
Liverpool v Everton. 12:45pm
St Mirren v Celtic. 12:40pm
Arsenal v Spurs. 5:30pm
7. Goodbye for now
What better way to finish-up the week than to head along to Sunday Funday in Campus from 6pm.
Come along and join in with a mash-up of music, singing, challenges, competitions and all round fun
This will be followed up by the Funfair Finale in The Garage where you will have the opportunity to take part in some awesome activities, games & challenges.
8. Remember, remember
Wristbands! All events held in The Garage are FREE with an RGU Freshers’ Week wristband and also mean you get to skip the queues.
All events held at Campus are free entry and do not require a wristband.

9. And finally…
Stay safe. Stick together and familiarise yourself with the area you’re heading out to.
Don’t drink alcohol on an empty stomach and never leave your drinks unattended in a pub or club.
Make sure you save the number of a next of kin in your phone under ICE (in case of emergency). If something happens, the emergency services may look for it in order to gain a contact number.
