A giant image of a missing Aberdeen woman will be projected onto the side of a city-centre building today to try to jog the memories of shoppers and revellers.

Police hope the unusual move will help produce a breakthrough in the search for 40-year-old Kelli Ferris.

Officers will also be at Pittodrie to appeal for information as thousands of football fans attend the Dons’ match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle

They have asked the public to check sheds and outbuildings for any sign of Ms Ferris, who vanished on September 10.

Detective Superintendent Mark Cooper, who is leading the investigation into her disappearance, said: “We have had several responses to our appeal for sightings and will follow up every lead.

“I would also urge all residents of the city centre to check around their properties including any garden sheds or outbuildings.

“I would like to thank members of the public for their continued assistance and would again appeal for anyone who may have had sight of Kelli or have information that may lead to her whereabouts being established to come forward.”

Ms Ferris was last seen around 4.45pm on the day she disappeared, outside Marischal Court flats in the city centre.

She had been in the building for about two hours. After banging on several doors, she fell asleep in the foyer.

It is understood she had been drinking earlier in the day

Police fear that Ms Ferris, who has serious health issues which require medication, may have stumbled into undergrowth after leaving the building.

She may also have met up with someone after leaving the block of flats and gone to another address.

Police believe she may not have ventured far from the tower block, as there are no CCTV images of her after she left the flats.

DS Cooper said: “Our search activity has been assisted by the Police Scotland helicopter and specialist search dogs.

“This has been useful, but we have still not found Kelli or any of her belongings.”

Ms Ferris is described as 5ft 4in, of slim build, with shoulder length red hair.

When she was last seen, she was wearing dark trousers, a blue jacket and was carrying a brown handbag.

Earlier this week, her mother Catherine Sandison begged the public to help find her daughter.
