Ladies are being invited to bag a bargain while raising money for charity at a fundraising event in Aberdeen this weekend.
An array of designer handbags, scarves, accessories and jewellery are among the fashion items on sale to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR).
Organiser Muriel Mutch said more than 200 handbags had already been donated, some of which have never been used.
Bags of all shapes, sizes and colours will provide a feast for the eyes, including designer names such as Chloe, Fiorelli, Tommy & Kate, Francesco Biasia, Jasper Conran, Mulberry, Gianni Conti, Chocolate and Liz Claiborne.
Queues of bargain-hunters are expected to gather at the city’s Palm Court Hotel for the sale which takes place between 11am and 4pm on Sunday.
This is the third time veteran fundraiser Mrs Mutch, 91, of Kingswells, has hosted a handbag sale to raise money for LLR.
The fiddly job of fixing price labels onto all the donations has kept her busy in recent weeks.
She said yesterday: “Now my biggest job is getting it all down to the hotel.”
Mrs Mutch, whose husband Andrew died of leukaemia, has been raising money for the charity for more than 30 years.
Last year, the sale raised £1,152 and she hopes they will beat that target this year.
She said: “I was surprised at the amount we have had handed in this year. It is more than usual.
“Some of the bags look really beautiful. We have so many – some are brand new and some are designer ones.
“There will be some good bargains on offer but it’s like everything else – it’s only a bargain if you need it and if you want it.”
She added: “There is usually a queue when we open up and a bit of a rush to get in but everyone is very civilised and they behave like ladies.”
Mrs Mutch also thanked Graham Urquhart, at the Palm Court Hotel, for letting them use the venue free of charge.
