Two north-east doctors have been announced as finalists of the Scottish Health Awards 2014.
Dr Derek King, consultant haematologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and Dr Jamie Hogg, ARI’s clinical lead for modernisation, fought off stiff competition from across the country to secure their places at this year’s award ceremony in November.
Every year, the Scottish Health Awards recognise and reward the dedicated NHS staff, support workers, volunteers and specialist teams who go the extra mile to provide “outstanding patient care”.
Dr King is a finalist in the coveted Doctors Award category, which recognises his dedication to providing outstanding care and for giving hope to patients.
Dr Hogg has reached the final stages of the Leading and Managing for Quality Award, which celebrates his work in developing a more person-centred approach to health and care services.
Dr Pauline Strachan, deputy chief executive of NHS Grampian, said: “I am delighted to congratulate our finalists on reaching the final stage of the Scottish Health Awards.
“Their hard work and dedication to enhancing patient services is an example of all our staff’s commitment to provide the best possible care for our patients.”
