An Aberdeen businessman is offering four women a five-star weekend being chauffeured around London in a Rolls Royce at a north east charity’s annual ball.
The unique trip to the UK capital – worth around £15,000 – has been put up for auction by Garreth Wood, son of Woodgroup founder Sir Ian Wood, at this year’s VSA’s annual fundraising ball.
The trip includes return flights from Aberdeen to Heathrow, five-star accommodation in a luxury suite in London’s Savoy Hotel, dining in Michelin-star restaurants, an evening at the Royal Opera House and visits to Jimmy Choo and Harrods from July 10 to 12 next year.
The ball – which last year raised more than £120,000 for the Aberdeen-based social care charity – will be held at Ardoe House Hotel on November 1, and the charity are seeking keen bidders for the trip.
Mr Wood, 36, who runs Aberdeen’s Speratus Group, has been on the VSA charity ball committee for several years now, and is committed to raising as much funds for the north east charity as possible this year.
He said: “We have been a sponsor now for five years and as part of our commitment we try and provide as many auctions and prizes as we can, we’re providing a few things this year and what they’re considering as the star item is the wonderful VIP London weekend.
“Hopefully the trip will be a wonderful experience. We’ve offered it as part of our on-going commitment for VSA. It’s a local grass roots charity within Aberdeen, and we have got along with the team there and we support everything they’re doing.
“We’re the main sponsor, we have got a couple auctions and a fantastic evening planned. I think it’s one of the best balls in Aberdeen now, and there’s a very competitive market up here.”
VSA’s events and fundraising co-ordinator, Debbie Fotheringham, said: “We have drinks, dinner, dancing and we have a live auction, we have got some really fantastic items lined up. It’s a good night, we want to share it with the north east.”
