A fast food restaurant inside a busy Aberdeen shopping centre has been temporarily closed after a fire this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the outbreak in Union Square’s Burger King at around 2.20pm.
A section of Union Square was evacuated while the fire was brought under control.
Neighbouring shops and restaurants were cleared of shoppers and staff, however a full evacuation of the building was not required.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Three appliances from Aberdeen Central and North Anderson Drive were called to the scene of the blaze but arrived to find the fire had been extinguished.
It is thought that the fire broke out in the kitchen area of the restaurant.
No neighbouring shops and restaurants were damaged by the fire.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said one crew remained on scene to ventilate the building of smoke. She added: “Thermal image cameras were also used to check there was nothing still going on.”
Union Square spokeswoman said: “There was an incident in an area of the mall this afternoon. This was evacuated whilst Scottish Fire and Rescue investigated.
“There have been no injuries and the mall remains open for business with only Burger King temporarily closed.”
