A celebrated English blues musician who has collaborated with the likes of Eric Clapton cancelled his Aberdeen gig tonight due to an illness.
Multi-instrumentalist John Mayall, 80, had been due to the take to the stage at the Music Hall tonight as part of his 80th anniversary tour.
The Manchester-born musician, often lauded the “godfather of British blues” is said to have been too ill to play tonight’s gig.
The grammy-nominated founder of seminal UK blues band, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, has played with the likes of Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green and Jack Bruce.
The nature of his illness is not yet known.
The gig had been scheduled to start at 7.30pm, but ticket-holders were informed of the cancellation via email this afternoon.
Mr Mayall, who turns 81 later this month, played Dundee’s Caird Hall on Saturday night and was due to play Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall tomorrow.
