He was once one of Scotland’s richest men – but now millionaire Calum Melville has vanished leaving a trail of debts.

Clydesdale Bank, fellow businessmen and the Press and Journal are all due tens of thousands of pounds from the former oil boss.

The 44-year-old launched an expensive court action against this newspaper last year over a story regarding an alleged fraud at the business he used to run, Cosalt Offshore.

However, his case was dismissed by a Court of Session judge, leaving him and his brother, Stuart, to foot a chunk of the P&J’s legal bill – £26,000.

Sheriff Officers have served the bill on Stuart, but have been unable to track down Calum, who is understood to have moved to the Middle East.

Last night, it emerged that he is also due tens of thousands of pounds to two Aberdeenshire businessmen from a business deal he struck after his departure from Cosalt.

And Clydesdale Bank – with whom he and Stuart have a mortgage with for a luxury home at Gleneagles – has mounted court action over missed payments.
