Representatives of three historic Aberdeen golf clubs have been invited to take part in talks over a proposed new clubhouse facility.
The development is planned for the former Broadhill Bar site on Golf Road, which was bought by local developer Carlton Rock Ltd in November last year.
The building would overlook the Kings Links municipal course, and would include a restaurant, coffee shop and outdoor terrace.
However, discussions have yet to take place between all the parties involved in the development, including the three local clubs who use the course – Northern, Bon Accord and Caledonian.
The trio of clubs are planning an amalgamation to form a new club, and had previously hoped to find a new home at the Broadhill Bar site. However, Carlton Rock was selected as the council’s preferred bidder for the property.
Yesterday, Aberdeen City Council confirmed a meeting will now take place with all the groups involved in the project, including Sport Aberdeen.
A spokeswoman for the authority said: “We can confirm a meeting is to take place involving the parties regarding the Broadhill site.”
Alan Massie, a director of Carlton Rock, says he intends for the three clubs to be a major part of the development.
He said: “We are proposing a members room so the golf clubs could have their own space, which would include an area for their trophies.
“Ninety per cent would be open to the public with the remaining 10% for the clubs.”
A joint-representative of the golf clubs has confirmed the local authority has been in touch to organise a date for a meeting between everyone involved.
