Theatre to open up for spring and summer tours

Fans of the stage will have the chance to go behind the curtain when His Majesty’s Theatre (HMT) opens up for public tours.

Aberdeen Performing Arts has announced a new season of Saturday morning 90-minute tours, which will give the inside story of the history and day-to-day workings of the historic venue.

Visitors will be lead by guides around His Majesty’s modern £7.8 million extension as well as the 100-year-old original building, designed by the legendary architect Frank Matcham.

There will also be opportunities to get onstage for a performers’ eye view as well as going backstage for a glimpse of the inner workings of a busy theatre.

Numbers are limited to 20 people per tour, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Tickets cost £5 (£3 concession) and can be booked through Aberdeen Box Office online at www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, in person at the Music Hall or HMT or by phone on 01224 641122.

The tours will be will be held at 10.30am on March 7, 21 and 28, April 4, 11, 18 and 25, May 2 and June 6 and 27.
