A three-car rush hour collision brought traffic to a standstill on a busy Aberdeen commuter route this evening.

A woman was cut free from her Ford Ka Zetec by firefighters following the collision between Mastrick Road and North Anderson Drive around 4.50pm.

A white Vauxhall Corsa and a black Vauxhall Astra was also involved.

The woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) by ambulance where she was being treated for minor injuries.

Police blocked off the northbound section of the road near the junction and diverted traffic up Mastrick Road.

Jamie Robertson, 28, a pipeyard worker, lives near to the scene.

He said: “This is a really bad junction for crashes. You can be waiting half an hour to turn onto it if the traffic is really busy.

“When something does happen here it always causes total chaos with the traffic.”

“I think putting in more traffic lights might make it safer.”

A police spokesman said: “Northbound traffic had to be diverted down Mastrick Road after the collision.

“One female occupant of a car had to be cut free and taken to hospital.”
