Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was the victim of a “cowardly” attack in Aberdeen.
The 65-year-old had to be taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary – where he was treated for facial injuries – following the assault, carried out by two men.
The incident took place on Great Northern Road, last Tuesday, at around 10pm.
The two culprits were aged between 18 and 35 and both were about 5ft 10ins tall.
One was average build, with short blonde hair and was wearing a white or light grey hooded top, light denim jeans and light coloured trainers.
The second suspect was slim.
Constable Lorcan Thame of Aberdeen division’s alcohol and violence reduction unit said: “This was an unprovoked and cowardly assault on a man who was cycling on Great Northern Road close to its junction with Barron Street, Aberdeen.
“He was approached by two men and struck on the head which caused him to fall off his bike. It was an upsetting incident for the man and I would appeal for anyone with information, or who saw anything, to contact us.”
