Serial Aberdeen car thieves given final chance

A sheriff has given three serial car thieves a final chance to behave before he punishes them for committing more crimes across the north-east.

Brothers Alexander and Cameron Hart were due to be sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, after the former admitted stealing a car from outside an Aberdeenshire house, and the latter admitted stealing an iPod and iPhone from a house in Aberdeen.

Accomplice Kyle Donald also appeared in the dock alongside the duo after he pleaded guilty to stealing £500 from a car he broke into.

However, Sheriff William Taylor delayed handing out any punishments for another three months for the men to prove they can be of good behaviour.

Alexander Hart, of 43 Beattie Avenue, Aberdeen, admitted stealing a set of car keys from a house at St James’ Walk, Inverurie, on December 4 last year and taking the vehicle outside.

The 23-year-old admitted he drove the vehicle through the town without insurance, all while he was on bail.

Kyle Donald yesterday admitted entering an unlocked car at Scougie, Mains of Tertowie, and stealing £500 he found in it on the same night last December.

The 19-year-old, of 110 Springhill Road, Aberdeen, also plead guilty to acting in a “threatening or abusive” manner later that evening at Prospect Terrace, Port Elphinstone, while he was meant to be on bail.

In the same case, 19-year-old Cameron Hart, also of 43 Beattie Street, admitted taking an iPod and iPhone that he found the next day from a house at Rowan Road in Aberdeen.

The trio will return to court in December to be sentenced.

Alexander and Cameron Hart have previously both appeared in court for stealing cars.

Alexander stole a £25,000 Range Rover from a property in the city’s Woodcroft Avenue in 2013, while his brother has previously been convicted of stealing five vehicles from addresses in Aberdeen, Portlethen and Ellon, including an £18,000 Hyundai and a £22,000 Audi.
