A man who got behind the wheel while more than five times the drink-drive limit on his 30th birthday has been disqualified.
Paulius Bendikas appeared from custody at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted driving on the city’s Crown Street and Rosebank Terrace while he had 111 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
He was caught driving his blue Honda estate at around 1am on Saturday.
Fiscal depute Sandy Hutchison told the court that police had been made aware Bendikas, of 62 Springbank Terrace, Aberdeen, may have been driving whilst over the limit.
As a result of the information they received officers pulled him over and found him to be smelling strongly of alcohol.
He then provided a positive breath test.
The court heard that due to the level of alcohol in his breath, reports would be needed before Bendikas is sentenced.
He will appear in court again later this month.
Sheriff Mungo Bovey banned him from driving in the meantime and said he was considering forfeiting Bendikas’ car.
