Man guilty of having sex with teenage girl he met on Tinder

A man who received more than £3,000 in compensation after part of his ear was bitten off by a soldier has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.

Peter Reid had been on trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court this week accused of stalking two teenage lovers and having sex with an underage schoolgirl.

And yesterday a jury of nine women and six men found him guilty of three charges.

Over a two-year period, Reid acted in a threatening and abusive manner towards two teenagers. He also had sex with a 15-year-old he met on Tinder, despite being made aware of her age.

During the trial the court heard about one incident when Reid locked one of his victims outside in his front garden while she was wearing only her underwear.

Despite her screams the 21-year-old refused to let her back inside his flat and when she attempted to get back in her slammed her fingers in the door.

On another occasion he pulled the same girl to the floor by her hair and kicked her on the body.

Reid was also convicted of banging another teen’s head against the floor. He also repeatedly made abusive comments towards her throughout the period of their relationship.

During evidence, one of the young ladies said that she felt so low during her time with Reid she tried to take her own life.

The court also heard that Reid, of 58 Sunnybank Road, Aberdeen, had been told on a number of occasions how old one of his victims was before he slept with her.

Giving evidence himself he told the court he didn’t believe her when she told him she was only 15 and said he thought it was “just a bit of banter”.

But he said regardless of her age he said he didn’t have sex with her.

The jury unanimously found him guilty of this charge.

Reid, a former Robert Gordon University student, claimed the teens had colluded together to make the whole story up.

He said they were all bitter that he had “spurned them for other women” and were trying to get their own back by making up the allegations.

In December 2014, Reid was scarred for life after the new partner of one of his victims bit part of his ear off in an Aberdeen nightclub. He was given £3,600 compensation.

Reid was placed on the sex offenders’ register yesterday and will be sentenced next month.
