A man who left his Facebook followers terrified when he revealed he wanted to “slay” everyone in an Aberdeen shopping mall with an assault rifle has been ordered to behave.
Jake Duguid posted online about a “killing spree” before describing his urge to kill “everyone” within Union Square with an AK47.
One woman, Jenna Buxton, was so concerned about the posts that she called the police.
Duguid admitted posting the grossly offensive, indecent, obscene and menacing comments online when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court previously.
And yesterday the 22-year-year-old was ordered to behave for six months before Sheriff Alison Stirling decides how to sentence him.
The sheriff said he had to be of good behaviour and that “all options” remained open to her when he appears back before her in September.
Court papers state Duguid “expressed a wish to shoot and kill members of the public”.
Fiscal depute Hannah Souter previously said Miss Buxton had spotted the post on the social networking site while at home in Inverurie.
The court heard the post from February 2 this year went on to describe his urge to kill “everyone” within the shopping centre.
Ms Souter said: “It went on to say he wanted to walk right through Union Square with an AK47 and just slay everyone.”
The court heard Duguid, of 42 Rowan Road, Aberdeen, went on to say: “I have no intentions to harm innocent people, I never will. I’m totally against it.”
