A young woman in Bridge on Don has described how she is living life to the full after discovering she 15 months to live.
Nadia Cruickshank was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January after experiencing seizures late last year.
Surgeons have operated on her and managed to remove 90& of the growth but following a biopsy she discovered she had a Grade 4 Glioblastonoma – which is likely to spread.
She is now determined to make the most of her time left.
She said: “I know it is going to kill me, I’m trying to be realistic about it.
“I kind of accepted it all pretty quickly.
“The day we found out was quite emotional but the next day I just carried on.”
She is being supported by her mother Helen, father Austin, boyfriend Ross Milne and other close friends.
She added: “I am spending as much time with my family and friends as I can.
“I’m going to Thailand, Orlando and Norway to visit my brother Kristoffer, his wife Aileen and my two nephews Alexander and Michael.”
And next month she plans to raise awareness of her condition by having her hair shaved off as part of a fundraising effort at the Ythanview Hotel in Methlick.
She said: “I am going to lose patches of my hair through the radiation, so I thought I could do this to raise my awareness and whatever money I am going to raise will make some difference.”
