A former swimming pool at Aberdeen University could help students to hit the right note.
Plans have been lodged with the city council to turn the building at King’s Pavilion into a large music rehearsal room.
A report submitted to the local authority by the university describes the building as a “hazard” due to the risk of someone falling in.
The opening of the pool at Aberdeen Sports Village has been put forward as a reason why the facility is no longer needed.
The report states: “As there is no longer a requirement for a swimming pool in this location, the university had to review other viable functions for the swimming pool hall.
“The outcome of this review was to floor over the existing pool to allow the large room to be used for orchestra rehearsals and performances.”

Timber flooring would be put down so it could be used as a pool again in the future if needed.
An acoustic ceiling would be installed if the plans were approved to improve the sound quality in the room.
Panelling would also stop noise disturbing people outside.
A university spokesman said: “The pool and its facilities have been unused since the opening of the Aberdeen Aquatics Centre two years ago, and our plans are intended to make best use of the available space for the benefit of the university community.”
