A veteran Aberdeen FC photographer, who started his career at Aberdeen Journals, has sadly died.
Donald Stewart was a familiar face at Dons home games, having covered Pittodrie match days since the mid-1970s.
Mr Stewart, who worked at the Journals before becoming a freelance snapper, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last August.
He was forced to give up covering his beloved Dons due to the disease, with Jamie Langfield’s testimonial match against Brighton his swan song.
Despite this, Mr Stewart remained in good spirits and, along with wife Doreen, he was a special guest at the Reds Europa League clash with FC Kairat Almaty.
More than £1,750 was raised for the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Research through a bucket collection prior to the match.
Last night, it emerged the 62-year-old had sadly lost his battle with MND.
Scores of people have now taken to Facebook to pay tribute to the popular character.
The 62-year-old spent 16 years with Aberdeen Journals, working mainly for the Evening Express, covering news and sport.
He then forged a successful career as a freelancer, covering anything from major news events and the Royal Family to weddings and christenings.
