A man has appeared in court after pupils at a north-east secondary school were allegedly flashed.

Brian Dawson appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, accused of two acts of public indecency.

The 65-year-old made no plea or declaration, and was remanded in custody.

It comes after police confirmed a man had been charged with two indecent exposure incidents in Stonehaven.

One of the incidents allegedly happened on the Slug Road, outside Mackie Academy on August 29.

The second is alleged to have happened on Saturday in the town centre.

A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that a 65-year-old male has been charged in connection with two indecent exposure incidents in the Stonehaven area on September 3, 2016 and August 29, 2016.”

An Aberdeenshire Council spokeswoman said the local authority did not wish to comment on an active court case.

Meanwhile, police are separately seeking a man who stopped lone female joggers in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to ask for “piggyback” rides.

The incidents happened in Laurencekirk, and on the Deeside Railway line between Cults and Milltimber and at Milton of Crathes.

Police received four reports of the “persistent” man – who claimed to need a piggyback due to an injury – between Sunday, August 28 and Saturday, September 3.

He approached the women in mornings and afternoons.

He is described being aged between 40 and 60, between 5ft 5in and 5ft 8in, stocky, with grey, receding hair. He was wearing exercise clothes.

Sergeant Andy Peerless said: “While on the surface these incidents may appear fairly innocuous, they have made the women involved feel extremely uncomfortable and alarmed which obviously makes this a concern for us.

“Given the frequency of the incidents and the similarities between them, we are asking the public to be vigilant and report any concerns to police as soon as possible while our inquiries continue.

“In each case the women who have been approached say the male has been persistent in nature and behaving oddly.

“Officers will be giving particular attention to the areas in question and are taking these reports extremely seriously.”

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
