Remembrance Sunday will be marked across the north-east tomorrow with representatives from Aberdeenshire Council joining veterans and cadets to remember the fallen.

Fraserburgh

In Fraserburgh, a ceremony will be held at the Old Parish Church before 11am to obverse a two-minute silence in recognition of the men and women who gave their lives.

It will be led by the Royal British Legion in the port from 10.15am, whose members will parade alongside various cadet groups including the Scouts and Boy’s Brigade.

A wreath will then be placed at the town’s war memorial

New Pitsligo

In New Pitsligo, there will be a parade at 11.15am from the Legion to the church, then onto the war memorial and back to the Legion for refreshments.

Turriff

Turriff’s Legion will also observe a service, with its wreath being laid by members of its ladies section, local councillors, Gordon Highlanders and cadet groups.

Rosehearty

The tiny fishing village of Rosehearty remembered its sacrifices on Armistice Day.

The villagers have historically honoured their war dead on November 11, and around two dozen Rosehearty residents, including school children, gathered yesterday at the war memorial looking over the coastline.

Inverurie

In Inverurie, the parade will set off from the Royal British Legion’s branch building at 8.45am and head to the local church for 9.30am. At 10.30am, the procession will continue to the town war memorial for a short service and laying of wreaths.

Banchory

In Banchory, the parade will assemble at the town’s Gordon Highlander Memorial at 9.20am. They will be led by Banchory Pipe Band to the memorial for wreath-laying and prayers before parading along High Street and down to Bellfield car park.

At 10.10am, colour parties will assemble outside Banchory Ternan East Parish Church, where the Remembrance Service will begin at 10.30am.

Ellon

In Ellon, the procession will leave Victoria Hall at 10.25am and march to The Square, where wreaths will be laid. A service will then be held in the church.

Stonehaven

Stonehaven’s service – which has been relocated from St James Church to South Church after the roof partially collapsed – will begin at 10.45am.

Tarland

Villages and smaller communities will also be holding their own events, including the 10am service in St Molaogs Parish Church in Tarland. After the service, former veterans will march to Tarland Square to lay a wreath at 10.45am.
