A Mearns man has proposed bringing an end to a town’s parking problems by creating a new multi-storey car park.
Tony Zaccarini insists a 400-car facility can be built on the grounds of care home, Clashfarquhar House, in Stonehaven as a solution to the parking issues in the community.
He argued the car park could be four storeys high, with two of the levels situated underground below Ann Street, and house 100 vehicles on each floor.
The proposals indicate the third level would be at the same height as Ann Street and the fourth would sit just below the ground level of Clashfarquhar House.
The entrance and exit would be from lower Rodney Street.
Stonehaven resident Mr Zaccarini’s proposals make the claim the facility would offer the “equivalent to around five Market Squares”.
The plans also include a flat roof with a landscaped garden, containing benches, trees and water features, exclusively for the use of the care home’s residents.
He is seeking to consult with the local community to gauge the level of support for the idea.
Mr Zaccarini hopes the local community and politicians in the area will back the scheme.
