More than 600 homes without power across north-east due to severe weather

More than 600 homes have been left without power this morning across the north-east due to severe weather.

Aberdeenshire has been struck by high winds and lashings of rain and snow, affecting travel and closing schools across the region.

Power outages have also been reported across the north-east with whole areas being left without access to electricity.

Scottish Hydro say Ballater and Fraserburgh have been particularly badly affected with hundreds of homeowners affected.

Laurencekirk (AB30)

Brae of Pert Cottages are without power – an engineer is onsite hoping to restore electricity by midday.

Inchmarlo (AB31)

28 streets are affected near Inchmarlo.
Power went out at 4am – SSE estimates they’ll be reconnected by 10am.

Aboyne (AB34)

47 streets are disconnected – SSE hopes to reconnect them by midday. Engineers will be onsite from 7:45.

 

Inverallachy (AB43)

26 postcodes in Inverallachy are without power. They lost electricity at around 6;15am – SSE is expecting to restore it by 2pm.

Turriff (AB53)

Garbal Croft and Drachlaw House are without power. SSE is hoping to reconnect them by midday.

Findochty (AB56)

Power outages at 11 postcodes were reported at around 3:30am. They’re expected to be reconnected at midday.
