A north-east man is heading to Cornwall to begin his career as a doctor after graduating from Aberdeen University.
Jack Abbot finished his course after an arduous six years and was joined by family to celebrate the proud moment yesterday.
The Banchory man said: “It’s a bit surreal to be at the end, the whole of the last year feels like it was just preparation for this.
“I am heading down to Truro in Cornwall where I will do six rotations across different departments.
“But right now, I think I would like to work in acute medicine.”
There are no shortcuts in medicine. But at least the 24-year-old will get a bit of reward for all his hard work.
He said: “I’m heading to Portugal with a group of people from the course, we have all been pretty tight since the first year.”
He added: “I would definitely recommend Aberdeen University to other medical students.
“The clinical exposure that the course gives you prepares you really well.”
“It was good to come here from Banchory.
“I managed to make my own space here, but I knew home was always close if I ever wanted to go back for a cooked meal.”
