An Aberdeenshire law student has scooped the first ever Carnegie Trust St Andrew’s scholarship and a place at an American University.
Heather Taylor was encouraged to go to university after gaining an HND in legal services at North East Scotland College (NesCol).
And yesterday, the 23-year-old picked up her second degree from the Robert Gordon University.
But the former Aboyne Academy pupil has no time to rest as she is busily preparing for her year-long stint at the New England School of Law, where her first semester begins next month.
Miss Taylor will be studying for a Masters in Law at the Boston institution and dreams of working in America one day.
The Carnegie Trust’s St Andrew’s Scholarship is awarded to help a student from a Scottish university to study in the States.
Miss Taylor, who was a member of Scotland’s U18 rugby squad for five years and currently coaches Deeside Rugby Club, previously gained a BA in law and management in 2014 will now graduates with an LLB in Law.
Pushed on to achieve her ambitions, Miss Taylor said she had received “tremendous” support throughout her course.
Miss Taylor was accepted to study law at three US universities, with each one offering her a scholarship.
She decided on Boston where she has been awarded a Deans Merit Scholarship to help cover her tuition fees also.
Talking of her future ambitions, she said: “After completing my Masters I intend to undertake the state bar exam so that I can practice law in America.
“I’m immensely proud of my achievements so far and all of the work I’ve put in over the last four years.
“One of the highlights of my time at RGU was the work I undertook with the RGU Law Clinic where I had the opportunity assist clients with real world legal issues.”
