Families are being asked to sign up for a cycling charity event that will mark five years since the death of a tragic Aberdeenshire toddler.

Kayleigh Cordiner was just two years old when she died in July 2012 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour the year before.

Her parents Jonathan and Anna Cordiner are once again organising the annual Kayleigh’s Wee Stars cycle event in Ballater on Saturday, October 7.

This family fundraising event challenges everybody who participates to take on either a 20-mile or 60-mile route – or for the more serious cyclist the full 90-mile challenge taking in the Cairn O’Mount road.

Raising money for families with children who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, the money is spent on seeing to it that the time they have left together is memorable and precious.

The event starts at the Deeside Inn in Ballater and takes in the byways and mountains of Royal Deeside and Aberdeenshire.

After the event, everybody is welcome to gather in The Deeside Inn from 7.30pm, to partake in much more relaxing activities: recovery drinks, an open folk music session and a raffle to round off the day.

Further information and a signing up form is available from:  www.kayleighsweestars.co.uk

The event itself is free but donations are welcomed.
