Businesses in Fraserburgh are being urged to get behind their club’s upcoming clash with Rangers to give the town a boost.
The Scottish cup tie between Fraserburgh FC and Rangers will take place at Bellslea Park on January 21, for a fourth-round match.
About 350 away fans will travel to the port to cheer on their side against the Broch.
And now businesses in the town are being urged to do their bit to reap the rewards when Graeme Murty and his players arrive,
Councillor Brian Topping, who is also joint chairman of the Fraserburgh FC Supporters Club, said: “When the draw was made everybody in the town was ecstatic, this is Fraserburgh’s Scottish Cup final.
“Whether you’re a pub or a restaurant or a shop having up to 350 Rangers fans coming up is a real boost, and they will receive a very warm welcome.
“Anyone can come up to Fraserburgh and enjoy the game and enjoy the town and hopefully they take a wee chance to spend some money when they’re here.
“I hope the local pubs, restaurants and shops benefit from this and I think there is going to be a fair bit of a spin off for lots of businesses.
“That to me is really much needed, so I think having a boost like this is really good for everyone.
“Hopefully local businesses will look at it as an opportunity.
“People will want to eat, they will want to drink and they might want to have a look round the shops here.”
There will be no tickets on public for the cup tie with the briefs only being handed out to season ticket holders.
But that won’t keep one group of football fans away from the action.
It is understood around 50 will be viewing the game live on a giant screen at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre, which is just a stone’s throw away from Bellslea Park.
