Brian McKandie: Murder trial expected to last number of weeks

A man has appeared in court today charged with the alleged murder of Rothienorman pensioner Brian McKandie in 2016.

Aberdeen High Court heard how Steven Sidebottom allegedly struck pensioner Brian McKandie on the head and body while at his home in Badenscoth in March 2016.

Sidebottom, 24, who denied the murder, has also been charged with robbery of a sum of money that also took place during the incident.

The trial, which is expected to last for a number of weeks, continues tomorrow.
