Kemnay Primary school sheds attacked three times in one week

The shed used by the Kemnay Primary after school club will need replaced.

Police are hunting for vandals who targeted sheds full of playground equipment at an Aberdeenshire school three times in the space of one week.

The facilities at Kemnay Primary were damaged between Monday April 23 and Thursday April 26.

One of the sheds has been so badly broken it will have to be completely replaced, at a cost of thousands of pounds.

The first incident happened at around 8pm on April 23, when a shed full of equipment was broken into. The items inside were later recovered, however.

Around half an hour later, two young men in dark clothes were seen using a large piece of wood to try and force open the lock on the outside of another shed which is used by the after school club.

The same shed then suffered further damage sometime on the night of April 26, and has been left beyond repair.

Investigating officer PC Stephen Coutts said: “The shed belonging to the after school club has been damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced at a cost of a four figure sum.

“This is needless vandalism to a shed that was perfectly useable but now requires to be fully replaced which will be costly and inconvenient for the group who use it.

“Thankfully the playground equipment from the first shed break in was recovered.

“This equipment is enjoyed by many children and so it is disappointing that people would want to spoil the fun and activities local children can enjoy at their local school.

““I would ask that if anyone has any information about any of the damage caused to any of the sheds within Kemnay Primary School to contact us with information quoting reference 0445 of 24 April.”
