A Deeside village hall will be knocked down and replaced with a new building.
Crathes Hall was first built in 1929 but within recent years it became clear to the hall’s board of trustees that updates needed to be made.
The board received funding from Aberdeenshire Council to carry out a feasibility study to look at whether the hall should be refurbished or replaced.
The study has involved employing a designer to produce drawings and a quantity surveyor who has estimated costs for both options.
A consultation meeting was held at the end of June with members of the Crathes community coming to view potential costs and designs and share their ideas on the matter.
Crathes Hall’s board of trustees then met to discuss their options and unanimously decided that a new hall would be built.
Moira Hamilton first joined the Crathes Hall’s board of trustees when she retired and decided to do volunteer work to give back to her local community.
Now the convener of the group, she said: “We were pleased that 50 people attended our consultation meeting and there was a real buzz as folk looked at the plans and discussed them with ourselves on the board and the designer.
“The next step in the process is to apply for planning permission and refine the plans in light of the comments we received at the consultation.”
