A north-east care home is being forced to shut amid claims vulnerable residents were tied to chairs with belts in “extremely dangerous” and “unacceptable” conditions.
Muirhead Care Home was placed under scrutiny last month after a government watchdog carried out an inspection at the facility near Alford.
Inspectors said they discovered that some residents were not being fed enough while others were not being given vital medication.
The Care Inspectorate took the case to the city sheriff court which granted an order to temporarily close the nursing home yesterday.
A spokesman for the care home said: “The court has decided that the registration will be suspended in three weeks’ time.
“All measures are under consideration.”
All residents must be moved out of the facility by the end of the month.
A full hearing into its future will now take place.
